The Managing Director of the National Inland Water Authority (NIWA), Chief George Moghalu on Wednesday, officially joined the November 6 Anambra governorship race under the All Progressive Congress (APC) platform.
Moghalu made the disclosure shortly after meeting with the State Executive in Awka to inform them of his intention to fly the party flag.
He said the visit to State Secretariat was aimed at seeking support for the forthcoming APC governorship primaries as well as the support for him to win the main election.
He assured that if he wins the party’s primary election and elected governor, that he will consolidate on President Mohammadu Buhari’s achievements in the South East.
According to him, the governorship election in the state would be a tough contest.
“I urged all members of the party to brace up to the challenges of working for the party’s victory,” Moghalu saud.
He urged his co-aspirants to desist from name calling, but, to sell their ambitions by explaining to the electorates what they intend to do for the state if elected.
He urged also the party to ensure that a person with impeccable pedigree was chosen as candidate for the election.
“It is instructive to state here that from past records, election in Anambra is usually won by the consensus of political elite, therefore only a person who is acceptable across various political parties stands a chance to win the coming governorship election.
“Governance is a big business, therefore a person who must be governor is one who has the capacity to accommodate everybody, Moghalu noted.
Chief Basil Ejidike, State Chairman of the party described Moghalu as consistent and loyal party man, while praised him for the supports to APC in the state.
