The Department of State Service, DSS, has raised the alarm of an imminent bomb attack by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Eastern Security Network, ESN, of Government facilities in Imo State, placing the Military on alert.
A DSS memo obtained by Pointblanknews.com revealed that the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/Eastern Security Network (ESN) has acquired Bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with which to further their subversive activities in the South East.
The memo by the DSS, Imo State command, addressed to the Brigade Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri West LGA, Imo State, directed that security personnel be deployed to checkpoints in Imo state to conduct thorough search on articulated vehicles to intercept the movement of the items.
The memo signed by Imo State Director of the DSS, I Abdullahi also said, “It-was reliably gathered that the newly acquired items are currently being conveyed from Lagos to an unconfirmed location in Orlu LGA.
“The items are being concealed in articulated/heavy duty vehicles to beat security checks along the road. It was further revealed that the group intends to deploy the explosives in their planned attacks on security/government installations across the state.
“In view, it is advised that security personnel deployed to checkpoints
be advised to conduct thorough search on vehicles with emphasis on such vehicles, so as to intercept the movement of the items. In addition, thorough search on vehicles coming into Security premises is advised, please.”
