Barely 5 days after the National President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero was manhandled in Owerri, the Imo state capital by thugs suspected to be loyal to Governor Hope Uzodinma, another mayhem has occurred in the state.
This time, a known leader of a deadly cult group and APC Chairman in Owerri North, identified as, Kelechi Azike, also known as, “Segun” and his team have caused havoc at the Imo Stakeholders Meeting with the INEC National Chairman.
It was gathered that the Special Adviser on Special Duties to Uzodinma, Chinasa Nwaneri and the said Azike, a notorious “hit” man to Governor Uzodinma bounced on a senior INEC staff who insisted that he “Segun” and his fierce looking men should leave the hall. At this time, according to eye witness, both Mr Nwaneri and Azike started brandishing their assault riffles and pointed at the INEC Boss, Prof Mamood while threatened to shoot anyone who dared to confront them.
Uzodinma’s hit man also threatened to shoot a Deputy Governorship candidate of one of the political parties who tried to prevent him from carrying out the dastardly act on the INEC staff.
Following this development, the venue became rousy thereby making guests who were already seated to scamper for safety and left abruptly.
Normalcy returned when security agents were alerted to restore peace, by this time, over 65% of guests from various political parties had left to save their lives.
It can be recalled that Imo state has been under tension in the last three and half years following several coordinated crimes against humanity and suspected to have been carried out by government sponsored militia groups.
