Two hours after Chief Ikechi Emenike emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Abia state, a State High Court sitting in Umuahia, has  affirmed his suspension as a member of the party.
Justice A.O. Chijioke in the Judgment, held that by Emenike’s suspension by his ward has denied him all membership privileges as provided by the APC Constitution.
Recall that Emenike has emerged governorship candidate of the APC in the state ,defeating Hon. Emeka Atuma, Dr. Uche Ogah, Dr.Alex Otti, among others.
According to the judgment; “The purport of this judgment is that Chief Ikechi Emenike is not fit to participate and/or contest in the ongoing primaries of the APC in Abia State, until the judgment is set aside on appeal.”
The Judge restrained Emenike from parading himself as a legitimate member of the APC.
It also restrained the APC from recognising him as a member of the party while his suspension subsists.
The suit marked HU/6/2022: Chinedum Nnoke& 2 Ors. V. Chief Ikechi Emenike & 3 Ors, was filed by three  members of the Abia State chapter of APC challenging the membership status of Chief Ikechi Emeinike, despite his suspension by the APC ,Nkwoegwu Ward over anti party activities.
The 3 claimants in the Suit were represented by Anaga Kalu Anaga, while Chief Ikechi Emenike and the APC were represented by Vitalis C.Nwankwo.
Reacting to the development, Abia State APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu ,denied knowledge of the judgment and added that he has just returned from the APC governorship  primaries where Emenike emerged candidate of the party.
