Former Secretary to the Abia State Government, Dr. Eme Okoro, says Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has excluded those who helped to bring him to office as Governor in 2015 and 2019, but prefers those who opposed his ambition.
Okoro stated that some politicians in Ngwa land who fought against Ikpeazu’s election are the ones reaping from him while many others who worked for the Governor’s success have been excluded.
The ex SSG, who disclosed this while addressing PDP delegates in Arochukwu LGA, alleged that many people jumping around Ikpeazu today, especially Ngwa kinsmen, never wanted him as Governor and also frustrated every effort at reconciliation.
He stated that such people are now the ones wrongly advising the Governor, making him commit political blunders.
Okoro further stated that some of Ikpeazu’s kinsmen even attempted to undermine votes from his home council, Obingwa, but were resisted.
“There were two people who fought against Ikpeazu; one is Ngwa land but of Aro lineage, the other is today a Minister government in APC. There were opposition candidates. These people contested against Ikpeazu, but God decided that Ikpeazu must be Governor. And when we set up a reconciliation committee to inform people that God has decided that Ikpeazu will be Governor, but there were too many people opposing Ikpeazu, especially from Ngwa land.
“Most of them did not support Ikpeazu and didn’t want to be Governor. Today, I see them jumping around Ikpeazu. Where were they? They even wanted to undermine the votes from Ikpeazu’s local government, Obingwa, but I refused. I helped to protect the votes from Obingwa and made sure it was counted. Some people from Obingwa can bear me witness. Today, Ikpeazu does not want to listen to good advice from anybody.”
