PDP stakeholders beg Abia Speaker to join Reps race

PDP stakeholders in Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South federal constituency of Abia State, have urged the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Engr. Chinedum Orji, to join the race for the constituency seat in the 2023 election.

The stakeholders stated this while presenting the expression of interest and nomination forms to the Speaker at his residence in Umuahia.

Describing the Speaker as the hope of Ikwuano /Umuahia federal constituency, and the best person for the seat, the stakeholders assured him of their massive support.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Pastor Emeka Inyama, said the Speaker’s performance at the House of Assembly has been excellent.

He said; “The Speaker had built projects outside his constituency and empowered a lot of youths across the state. He has also brought stability to the State Assembly, and has supported the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu administration in the state. The Speaker has transformed the House of Assembly complex, we are confident that he would perform better if given more opportunities.”

Stressing that the youths have been urging him to run for the governorship position, the stakeholders stated that his running for the House of Representatives seat will serve the interest of the people better.

Also speaking, Member representing Umuahia South State constituency, Hon. Jerry Uzosike, assured the speaker of the continued support of the people of the constituency and begged him to accept the offer.

Responding, the Speaker expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for their support, but asked for 48 hours to consult before making a decision.

Among the stakeholders were the chairman of Abia Warriors football club, Pastor Emeka Enyeama; former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Charles Ogbonna; former Commissioner for Lands, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu; former Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Emma Nwabuko;  Umuahia North Council boss, Ugochukwu Njikonye; and former NLC leader in the state,Chief  Lucky Akabuike.

Others were former Ikwuano Council boss, Mrs Ngozi Orji; former member representing Ikwuano state constituency, Hon. Wisdom Ogbonna, among others.
