2023: Abia Deputy Gov declares governorship ambition, promises transparency in governance

Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has declared his intention to contest for the governorship position in the 2023 governorship election and pledged to ensure transparency in governance.

Speaking at the PDP Secretariat, Umuahia, Oko Chukwu said he has consulted widely across different stakeholders of the state and gotten the support to present himself to serve the people of the state.

He explained that he has garnered the requisite experience having served the state in different capacities as speaker and deputy governor.

He said; “I stand before you today with profound humility to present myself to lead us to the promised land. I hereby declare my intention to contest for the governorship seat of Abia state in 2023.

“The decision to contest is borne out of personal conviction that I can lead  us to take Abia to the next level.Those who know me will attest to my uncompromising stand on trsnsparency and accountability. I will use my professional background as a chartered accountant to foster and entrench good governance in the state by ensuring that we apply the best systems of transparency and accountability in the conduct of government business.

“I have been actively involved in the affairs of Abia State  in different capacities in the past 18 years. The beauty of my involvement is that in the areas we didnt do very well, I have learned good lessons for success and in areas we succeeded, I have the knowledge and opportunity to make things better for Ndi Abia. What I have done today is to offer Ndi Abia a covenant of service, performance and leadership.”

State chairman of the party, Chief Asiforo Okere commended the deputy governor for his humility and assured of a level playing field for all governorship aspirants in the party.
