Former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, has been sacked as the pro chancellor and chairman of the Governing council of the Abia State University, Uturu,(ABSU).
Wabara’s sack was announced through a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, which also announced a new Governing council for the university.
It was gathered that the sack of the former chairman of the ABSU Governing council may not be unconnected with his position on the 2023 governorship poll in the state where he warned the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, against fielding another Ngwa man to succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
He had also warned PDP to zone the party’s governorship ticket to Ukwa or Abia North in line with the Abia charter of equity, stressing that denying Ukwa or Abia North the party’s ticket would lead to the PDP losing the 2023 polls.
The statement announcing the dissolution of the ABSU Governing council, declared Chief Mba Okoronkwo Ukariwo as the new chairman.
It read; “Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D and visitor to Abia State University Uturu has approved the dissolution of the Governing council of Abia State University with immediate effect. Furthermore, the Governor has also approved the immediate reconstitution of the Governing council as follows; Chief Mba Okoronkwo Ukariwo – Chairman;  Chief Obinna Njoku – member; Senator Emma Nwaka – member; Chief Chinwe Nwanganga – member; Chief Ndukwe U Ndukwe – member;  Dr. Jonas Ibeaja – member; Barr. C Nwokeukwu (SAN) – member;  Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education – member.”
