Speaking at a general meeting at Akpo Townhall, Fegge, Onitsha, their chairman, comrade Peter Okala, flanked by his secretary, Michael Okafor, vowed that, “we will be non partisan”,
Top on the list of matters discussed included, the forthcoming governorship election slated for Nov. 6 where a number of resolution was taken.
In their communique they reminded other two zones, (North and Central) of the “gentleman’s agreement” that the rotational system be strictly adhered to with respect to governorship slot amongst the three zones of the state.
According to the chairman, “it is sacrosanct that it is the turn of the Anambra South zone to produce the next governor of the state.
The communique stated also that the Old Aguata Union, having a total of 45 comunities, are the most resourceful in terms of numerical strength, experience, unity, wealth, contact and capability to present candidates and campaign execution across the 326 electoral wards and 21 local government Areas in the State.
They resolved further that whatever instrument necessary to hit the ground running in terms of winning the up coming election is in abundance in Anambra South, and Old Aguata Union in particular, hence no other zone should parade itself as godfather to Ndi Anambra south and the OAU in Particular.
They urged Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to accept electoral malpractice that could make mockery of the state as a reference point to other elections in the country.
