Anambra: Tricycle, commercial cyclists vow to fight armed robbers, multiple levies

Irked by the spate of tricycle (keke) armed robbery and multiple levies in Anambra state, tricycle and motorcycle riders under the aegis of United Commercial Keke and Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria (UCKEMORAN) inaugurated its Anambra state chapter, to battle crimes.

Inaugurating a 10-man state executive of the association, the National Secretary, Chief Solomon Chukwu, said that with the inauguration the armed robbers who have been a torn in the fresh of passengers would be fought to submission.

He added that multiple levies by the commercial riders would also be a thing of the past as the association would collaborate with the state government and security operatives to ensure that only agreed levies would be paid to the state government.

“We are going to work in synergy with government of Anambra state to stop unauthorized and illegal multiple levy collection on our roads”

“We will stop unnecessary intimidation of our members and will harmonize operations with government approved revenue agents to ensure peaceful co-existence and that once ticket is bought from any point will cover others,”.

The new state chairman, chief Arunsi Igbanuka, commended the National body for inaugurating the state chapter, and vowed to abide by the oath of office.

He pledged to work in synergy with the state government to sack keke
armed robbers and other road crimes that have threatened the smooth
operation of the riders.

Contributing, his deputy, comrade Emeka Ohaekelem, reiterated that the state chapter would effectively carry out its duty to the betterment of the riders and passengers in the state.

He commended the National body and members in the state for the
successful inauguration of the state chapter.

Other executive members are Chima Egwumeze-Secretary, Isaac Chukwu-Financial Secretary and Ejike Boniface-PRO, Chukwudi Obiora-Treasurer, Sunday Ama-Welfare, Chukwuebuka Okudo-Chief Taskforce and Anthony Ogbugo- Publicity Secretary.
