Recall that the five Engineers were on November 3, 2021, deployed to a road project at Effium in Ebonyi in continuation of routine supervisory works; Mr Ezeagwu was to hold a meeting with one Mr Ken Okeh at 3pm on same date after the site visit to discuss some accommodation issues. But no word has been heard from them since they went on the site visit.
Co-owner of the company, Mr. Benjamin Ezeagwu, who stated this in reaction to announcement of the death of the five missing engineers by the Ebonyi State Governor,Chief David Umahi, insisted that there are still unanswered over the fate of the missing engineers.
He said; “The questions begging for answers are; How were they confirmed dead so quickly? Where their corpses recovered? Was the vehicle which they arrived in Effium community recovered? Why will a community in whom such a heinous crime was perpetrated who also later ambushed and killed policemen who went for investigation be allowed to continue in their crave for criminality without bringing them to justice?
“We do not believe that the missing engineers are dead. If they are dead, the vehicle in which they travelled and their bodies should be recovered.”
Listing their names as follows as Nelson Onyemeh, Stanley Nwazulum, Ernest Edeani, Ikechukwu Ejiofor and Samuel Aneke, Ezeagwu lamented that that the families of the engineers have been in pains unsure of what may have befallen their relatives.
“Till date, no contact or demand has been made by their abductees nor any word heard from them.”
