Two traditional rulers in Imo State and a youth leader have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen, reports say.
The gunmen invaded Ihitte Ihube in the Okigwe Local Government Area and whisked away Eze Acho Ndukwe of Amagu Ihube and Eze Paul Ogbu of Ihitte Ihube
Also abducted was the youth leader of Umuololo- Okigwe, whose name is yet to be ascertained in the early hours of the morning attack.
Eze Ndukwe who is considered influential is the current chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers for Okigwe Local Government Area.
Also attacked was the country home of a community leader in Umulolo Okigwe, Fabian Nwosu, though they met his absence.
A source who pleaded anonymity said the gunmen arrived in different Hilux vehicles and shot sporadically and kidnapped the two monarchs and the youth leader.
Within the past three months, there has been an onslaught against Imo traditional stool with the murder of two monarchs, and kidnaps in recent times.
Last week alone, two monarchs were kidnapped, Eze Damian Nwaigwe of Mbutu who regained freedom after two days in the kidnappers’ den while his counterpart, Eze Edwin Azike of Atta ancient kingdom in Njaba was discovered murdered and abandoned at the market square.
When contacted, police spokesperson for the command, Michael Abattam said investigations had commenced to nab the fleeing gunmen and release the kidnapped monarchs.
