Ebonyi bans night movement, mass gathering over killings

The Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, on Wednesday banned movement of people within and at strategic entry and exit points of the state between 8pm and 6am daily.

According to the governor, security agencies and the newly created Ebube Agu had been detailed to enforce the order.

Umahi stated this in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Uchenna Orji, on Wednesday.

The statement read, ‘In view of the new development in the tactics and  dimensions adopted by criminal elements in their attacks on public facilities in Ebonyi State, I have been directed by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Nweze Umahi, to notify the general public as follows:

“That ban on movement into and out of Ebonyi State from 8pm to 6am is still in force.

“That no procession in whatever guise is allowed at any point in time in the state for the time being.

“That mass gatherings are not allowed except in essential service centres.

“That members of the public are enjoined to give our security agencies and Ebube Agu useful information on the activities of criminal elements anywhere in the state.”
