In a move that confirms that the crisis rocking the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is far from over, the five rebel governors who are opposed to Atiku Abubakar’s candidacy are meeting behind closed doors in Enugu right now.
The group led by the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, is made up of Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
The PDP governors were received at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, this afternoon by their host, Ugwuanyi.
They all drove to Government House Enugu where they are presently meeting behind closed doors.
The agenda of the meeting is not yet known.
The governors did not address the media before going into the meeting.
But Pointblanknews.com learnt from reliable sources that it has to do with their demand that the national chairman of the PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, resigns his position because of his alleged allegiance to Atiku.
The five governors also boycotted the flagging off of the PDP presidential campaign in Abuja on Wednesday, September 28.
All efforts to broker peace between the warring factions have proved abortive.
On arrival at the Enugu Airport, the PDP governors were in a buoyant mood, backslapping each other.
