The Labour Party (LP) Anambra State Assembly candidate for Oyi constituency, Chief Obinna Okafor, says he decamped from People’s Democratic Party, PDP to LP, because of the party’s unfair treatment to Southeast zone since inception.

Explaining further, Okafor said on Monday in his homestead Nkwelle-Ezunaka community that he was a chieftain of PDP for years.

According to him, Southeast has been voting PDP massively right from 1999 till date, but the party has not treated the zone fairly.

“No region has voted PDP more than the Southeast.

“The only time we believed  in the party that it was our time was when late Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, contested for presidency.

“It was given to South West to appease the zone over the death of Chief MKO Abiola.

“If the presidency goes to the North in 2023 for another four or eight years, then you don’t want the unity of the country.

“Now it should be the turn of the Southeast; some of us who are progressives, left PDP because of this, to labour Party,” Okafor said.

On the intra PDP crisis, the House of Assembly hopeful, reiterated that one could not after building a house, left it for another person to live.

He noted that, “In 2015, the likes of Tambuwal, Atiku Abubakar, Olusola Sarkis, Rotimi Amaechi, among others, left us in PDP for APC, and that is what PDP is suffering today.

“We had Wike, who stood his ground and uplifted the party financially, morally and get the party to where it is today.

“If there is anything like inheritance, Wike should inherit the presidential ticket of PDP and not Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Should Wike be the presidential candidate of PDP, yes!

He said that the North, is about rounding up for the South to take over, adding that, “Why should we have another Muslim Northerner in a circular state like Nigeria.

Okafor said that he had three political agendas to better the welfare of his people.

“They include, politics of inclusion, accountability and quality representation. The only constant thing in life is change, “from where we share money to where we engage people, ‘Obidient”.
