There was confusion at the Abia state office of the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) as staff of the commission locked up the  Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC) in charge of the state, Dr. Joseph Iloh over unpaid benefits owed the staff.
The staff were irked that Iloh would soon proceed on retirement leave without paying the allowances owed them.
The angry workers blocked the entrance gate located beside the State branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with their welfare bus while the security men stood watching.
They insisted that Ilo would not leave office until he settles the outstanding benefits owed them.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that the workers are still being owed the allowances due them from the just concluded primaries of various political parties for the 2023 general elections.
Attempts to get Iloh’s  reaction was unsuccessful as mobile his mobile number rang without response.
Contacted, the commission’s officer in charge of Public Affairs in the state,  Bamidele Oyetunji, described the development as an internal crisis which had since been sorted out.
