Families of 10 deceased policemen who served in the Abia state command have been presented with N21m cheques to alleviate their loss of their breadwinners.
Presenting the cheques at the command headquarters, Umuahia on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, Commissioner of Police, Abia State command, Mrs Janet Agbede discloseed that the release is part of the IGP’s ongoing Group Life Assurance Welfare Scheme to the families of policemen who died in active service for the 2020/2021 policy year.
The CP who was represented by ACP Jane Mbaneno, thanked the Inspector General of Police for the gesture adding that it would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of the families of the deceased policemen.
Agbede assured that the policemen of the Command will continue to discharge their duties effectively for the security of the State and Nigeria, at large.
She said; “I charge the beneficiaries to utilize the money judiciously, I have no doubt that this gesture will serve as morale booster to the serving members of the force in order to enhance productivity.”
Justice John, who spoke on behalf of the benefitting families, thanked the Inspector General of Police for the gesture and pledged to utilize the money judiciously.
