Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has written to the state House of Assembly on his intention to present the 2022 revised draft state budget on Friday.
The Speaker of the House, Mr Uche Okafor announced the date while reading the letter from the governor at plenary on Thursday.
In the letter, the Governor thanked the lawmakers for their support and urged them to allow him perform his constitutional duty.
However, the Speaker said he would communicate with the Governor’s office as the proposed date, Friday, May 6, would not be convenient.
“May 6, is tomorrow and with the look of things, it will not be convenient to recieve the Governor. I will therefore, communicate with the Governor’s office to agree on a new date which will be communicated to members, ” he said.
In another letter, Soludo informed the House of the expiration of the tenure of the 21 Local Government transitional committee since April 28.
In the letter, the Governor had directed the Transition Committee Chairmen to handover to their Heads of LG Administration in the interim.
It said that a new list of nominees for the LG Transition Committee Chairmen and members would be sent to the Assembly soon, for consideration and confirmation.
Also at plenary, Dr Nnamdi Okafor, (Awka South APGA), the Majority Leader, informed the House that the services of the clerk, Mr Pius Udo ended today, May 5 and that nature abhorred a vacuum.
Okafor noted that it was the responsibility of the House to appoint a new or Acting Clerk and he appointed the Deputy Clerk, Mrs Esther Anetoh.
The Speaker confirmed Anetoh as the acting clerk after a voice vote by lawmakers present during the plenary and the House adjourned to May 10.
