Suspected IPOB Members Attack Soldiers, burn patrol van in Abia

Suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have attacked soldiers at a military checkpoint in Aba, Abia state and set ablaze their patrol van.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that the incident at Tonimas junction on the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt expressway caught the soldiers unawares, as the gunmen had laid ambush before they arrived the checkpoint.However, it could not be confirmed whether soldiers or the gunmen was killed in the attack.

Contacted, Assistant Army Public Relations Officer, (APRO) ,14 Brigade, Ohafia, Innocent Omale, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.

But senior military personnel at the 14 Brigade who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the attack and disclosed that no soldier died in the gunfire.

He also refuted reports that the gunmen carted away arms and ammunition from the soldiers, stressing that no soldier lost his firearm.
