The home of the former member that represented Bende federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Nnenna Elendu Ukeje has been razed by unknown persons in Alayi Bende LGA of Abia State.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the hoodlums came through the back of the fence and set fire on furniture, a Hilux jeep, and another vehicle parked inside the compound.
The ex lawmaker is said to have returned to Abuja, but It could not be ascertained whether any of her family members was at the compound at the time of the attack.
In a similar development, five persons have been killed in Amangwu community in Ohafia LGA. Many houses were also burnt in the clash which broke out over a disagreement between two factions of the Eastern Security Network in the community.
Recall that the ESN had taken over the Amangwu community where they have engaged in several clashes with the soldiers of the 14 Brigade, Ohafia.
The clash assumed a dangerous dimension when five persons were shot dead and over 15 houses belonging to members of the community were burnt by the ESN.
The situation caused panic as the residents abandoned their homes and scampered to safety. The residents are now seeking refuge in neighbouring villages.
A resident of the area who did not want her name on print told Pointblanknews.com that five persons (three females and two males), died from the attack while one person who sustained a bullet injury is lying critically ill at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.
Contacted on the situation, Chairman of Ohafia LGA, Dr. Okoroafor Bassey Ukiwe , who said he was at the FMC, Umuahia, disclosed that the female victim who sustained a bullet injury has been operated upon.
He gave the names of the deceased as Ndubuisi Ndukwe, Ucha Ndukwe, Inyang Ndukwe, Kalu Umah and another whose name was yet to be ascertained.
According to him, “The victim lost her mother and a sister; who were shot in their house by the gunmen. I am just leaving Intensive Care Unit of FMC where I went to see the female victim who is battling for her life. She has just been operated on to remove the bullets shot in her body; by the gunmen.
“The gunmen killed her mother and her sister in their house after they burnt her mother’s shop. From information available to me, the problem is that, a fight broke between members two ESN factions in the community.
“The other group felt that the woman who sells food in the community was not in support of their activities in the community. They went to her shop and burnt it, came to her house and killed her and when two of her daughters came out, they also shot them.
“One died on the spot while the other one that sustained bullet injury was rushed to the hospital and is receiving treatment. Two other boys were also killed by the gunmen.”
The LGA Boss vowed that the security agencies are on the trail of the criminal situation and would arrest them.
