Ozigbo while making the remark when he hosted a gathering of prominent new media practitioners in Anambra state in Awka also lamented that the state has witnessed irresponsible government that has failed on every front.
In its judgement on an appeal brought before it by Ozigbo and the PDP, a panel of justices led by Honourable Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, upheld the primary election conducted by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP on June 26, 2021, at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, at which the respected business leader emerged as the winner.
The court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately publish Ozigbo’s name as the PDP candidate, and awarded N10 million damage against Uba.
In his reaction to the judgement, Ozigbo commended the court for its decisive decision, describing it as a victory for Ndi Anambra people.
“First, I wish to thank God for his many mercies. I always say I am a child of grace. Everything that you know about me, and everything that has happened all through this process is a manifestation of the grace of God.
“I commend the Appeal Court for its judgement on this important issue. This judgment is a milestone because it has proven that truly, the judiciary is the last hope of the people.
“I also commend our legal team led by Mr Alex Ejesieme, SAN, and that of our party, led by our National Legal Adviser, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem. They have been fantastic.
“I wish to specially thank all the PDP governors for their incredible support and encouragement. All the leaders of our great party have been wonderful.
“In the days to come, the PDP will come with full force. We will come up as a united family, and together, we will drive the vehicle to the Anambra Government House,” Ozigbo told the gathering.
Ozigbo, a multiple award-winning global CEO, charged the media practitioners to mobilise youths, who constitute the highest voting population, to support the PDP and the Ka Anambra Chawapu project.
Ozigbo declared that he has “the right measure of competency, character, and compassion to drive the ‘Ka Anambra Chawapu’ that would turn the state’s fortunes around for the benefit of all Ndi Anambra”.
“If you elect me as your governor, I will bring in everything I’ve got to make sure that I deliver on our promises to you,” Ozigbo said.
“My government will rid this state of the many scandals we are living with today.
“We must eradicate the scandal of thousands of our children out-of-school. We must eradicate the scandal of our women breaking their backs to repair our roads just because we have an irresponsible government that has failed on every front.
“We will eradicate the scandal of our women dying needlessly when they are giving birth because we don’t have a governor that cares enough to make sure our hospitals work.
“We must eradicate the scandal of a government ruling the state through touts and agberos who terrorize the hardworking people of Anambra.
“Enough is actually enough! This dysfunctional APGA regime must be brought to an end and in its place, we will bring hope back to Ndi Anambra.
“I promise you, will make you proud,” Ozigbo ended.
While addressing the media community, the Director-General of the Anambra PDP Governorship Campaign Council, Dr Alex Obiogbolu, said electing Ozigbo as the next governor of Anambra would be the best thing to happen to the state and its people.
Dr Obiogbolu urged them to promote the party and its candidate, Ozigbo, saying that PDP remained the best option for Anambra State as the current crop of leaders have failed the people.
In her remarks, Ms Aziza Uko, the Director of Media and Communications of the PDP State Governorship Campaign Council, said Mr Ozigbo’s track record of excellence in the corporate sector would certainly be replicated to ensure a rapid transformation of Anambra.
Other senior members of the PDP State Governorship Campaign Council were present at the parley, including Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, the Secretary of the Council; Mrs Chinelo Ofoche, the Director of Protocol, and Sir Izuchukwu Oraelosi, the Director of the VCO Foundation.
Ozigbo, one of a few global Kaizen champions, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc. He emerged as the candidate of the PDP for the November 6 Anambra governorship election after securing the majority of the votes cast at the party’s primary held on June 26 in Awka.
Since his emergence, Ozigbo and the PDP have continued to make giant strides towards winning the seat of power in Anambra State.
In July, Ozigbo named Mrs Azuka Enemo, a seasoned administrator and a two-time Commissioner in Anambra State, as his running mate.
Last month, the PDP inaugurated a high-powered governorship campaign council led by Senator Uche Ekwunife, a decision which was well-received by PDP leaders and supporters.
