The Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has through its Biafra Internal government (BIG)) on Thursday, vowed that Biafrans would not fight another civil war.
Reacting to the insinuations making the round in some quarters of a possible outbreak of another civil war with Nigeria, Elder Chris Mocha, who is the Senior Special Assistant to Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, on Media and Publicity, dissmissed such reports as fake, maintaining that his organisation’s position is to actualize a sovereigh state of Biafra without firing a gunshot.
Citing the Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) signed on May 8, 2004, between MASSOB, Igbo on one hand and the Great Common Wealth of Niger Delta (GCND) representing leaders of various groups on the other hand, Mocha disclosed that, “the new alliance had proved beyond any reasonable doubt to our enemies that Ndigbo and their brothers in South South can still stay and work together”.
Mocha made these clarifications on Thursday after meeting with the Chief Minister for Abia south, Chief Okpani Nkama.
According to him, “the founder of MASSOB, Ralph Uwazuruike, promised Ojukwu that the new Biafra struggle for Independence will not cause another war in the country.
“We shall achieve our new Nation where the free gift of nature to man, natural resources, abundant in our land shall be used to improve the life of man”.
He recalled that, “the second Biafra-Nigeria civil war began on May 22nd, 2000 shortly after the re-declaration of the New Biafra based on non-violence and non-exodus philosophy.
“Having also assured the UN in the Biafra Bill of Rights which was submitted on November 1, 1999, our leader promised that MASSOB shall remain peaceful in the course of his agitation for Biafra.
“Therefore any politician or groups sponsoring or inciting violence or calling for war in Nigeria are on their own because Biafra fought war between 1967- 1970 and the region is not prepared for another war of arms and ammunition”
He added that, “with the admission of Biafra into the UNPO on April 22, 2020, United Nations Special Rapporteur and that of Confederation of Independent Football Associations, CONIFA on October 7, last year and the Harvard Law Students under the Aegis of UNPO/UN International on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights on Land Use / Border Rights and Extra- Territorial Obligations of Nations in our quest for Self- Determination, Biafra is making rapid progress globally.
He noted that one of the reasons BIM-MASSOB secured the admission of Biafra as 46 member -Nation of Unrepresented Nations and People’s Organizations, UNPO was to help to facilitate the issues of Biafra.
“And if the body fails to do this task, it then means our reason for joining UNPO has not been realzed “.
He disclosed further that Biafra internal government is currently engaging in a series of conferences and bilateral talks with foreign organizations to finally achieve that Nation where slavery, oppression and marginalization of our people shall be non- existent”.
He recalled that, “the Biafran leader, Ralph Uwazuruike had earlier thrown his weight behind the constitution of Biafra Defacto customary government representing different pro-biafra groups led by Alhaji Mujahid-Asari Dokubo, whom he described as a fearless principal actor in our quest for Biafra actualization mission, he stated further.
“Dokubo has remained ever assertive and vocal and indefeatable in the struggle to liberate the people of Biafra through a non-violence process.
“Dokubo’s principled stand on Biafra restoration project is an encouragement to all and a deterrent to the warring enemy; Because of these qualities I found favour in his endorsement”, Uwazuruike said.
