The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has said Senator Ayogu Eze, the party’s governorship candidate in the 2019 general election is not in any form of suspension and that he is still the leader of the party in the state.
In a letter to the APC National Chairman, His Excellency, Buni Mai Mala, the APC State Caretaker Chairman, Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye said the claim of suspension by Mr. Nwokedi Ugwoke, a one-time chairman of Sen. Eze’s ward is untainable.
Dr. Nwoye also said, “the former ward chairman has since been relieved of his position for anti party activities and therefore is not in any position to suspend anybody in the APC.”
Dr. Nwoye therefore asked the APC and the general public to ignore Mr. Ugwoke’s mischief, which he said was being investigated by the party with a view to slamming appropriate sanctions on Mr. Ugwoke and his accomplices.
Describing the purported suspension as laughable and of no consequence, Dr. Nwoye accused the former ward officer of working with an unnamed opposition political party to destabilise the APC.
The APC State Chairman said that the party is instead pleased with Sen. Eze, stating that “it is the party’s implicit confidence in Sen. Eze that prompted the vote of confidence passed on him by the party leadership in the state, the Igbo-Eze North LGA Chairman, Desmond Ayogu and Sen. Eze’s ward chairman, Nduka Obeta.”
It will be recalled that the former chairman had circulated a misleading information, purporting to have suspended Sen. Eze, a development Dr. Nwoye urged the general public to ignore and to view it instead as the antics of a busy body.
