The court returned Oguebego who is loyal to Chris Ubah (Eselu) as the authentic chairman of PDP in Anambra State.
This is already causing tension in the party as some of the aspirants are nursing the fear that Ugochukwu Ubah, the brother of Eselu will pick the ticket of the party.
One of the aspirants that spoke under condition of anonymity said that the fortune of the party is hanging on the balance and the party might return to the trenches.
The Aspirant said the litigation that will follow might destroy the chances of the party in the forthcoming election.
“What happened today is a big setback for the party and we might not recover from it. Just when we’re about to start the ward congresses to elect the delegates for the primary election.
“If not properly handled, the legal battle this judgement might cause will destroy our chances at the election proper.”
However, a chieftain of the party in the state, Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia said there’s no cause for alarm as the judgment changes nothing with respect to conduct of the primary election in the state.
Onyia said the constitution of the PDP as amended is clear on the conduct of the primaries and a change of baton in the state will have zero effect in the primary election.
“There’s no cause for alarm, the PDP is on course to win the forthcoming election and will go on with the process.
“The Constitution of the party handed over the process of nomination of guber candidate to the National Workig Committee after the 2012 amendment of the constitution,” Emeka said.
It was gathered that the judgement of the court might be an exercise in futility as a court of concurrent jurisdiction has given a different judgment from that of the Abuja High Court today.
