Former Senator who represented the Imo-East senatorial district, Samuel Anyanwu, has blamed the South East leaders for the continued marginalization of Ndigbo in Nigeria.

The lawmaker accused the leaders of being timid to speak out for the race.

In a press statement signed by his media aide, Ikenna Onuoha, and made available to newsmen, he expressed worry that those expected to speak against the marginalization of the Igbos by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration are rather making themselves willing tools in doing biddings of the President.

“It is an act of cowardice, wickedness and disservice to our people that those expected to talk are shying away and hiding themselves under the current reality.

“They should cover their faces in shame that other zones are developing while their area is lagging behind.

“Until the leaders in the Southeast begin to speak in one voice, the zone will continue to remain underdeveloped,” it added.

The statement further attributed the repeated agitations by some secessionist groups in the zone to the spate of political imbalance, humiliation and abandonment meted out to the zone by the current government.
