Angered over the high rate of insecurity in Southeast, the National President of Igbo Peace Ambassadors (I.P.A), Engr Uju Okoro has expressed the readiness of the organization to build ranches in the six geopolitical zones of the country.

Engr. Okoro made this disclosure yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen in Owerri.

According to him, “the organization has reached out to relevant stakeholders across all geopolitical zones of the country on the need to establish low cost ranches nationwide in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

He maintained that when the ranches were fully established, it would go a long way in reducing the spate of insecurity, and appealed to the Federal Government for corporation.

Engr Okoro further expressed optimism that the ranch when set up would afford ample opportunities to Fulani cattle rearers and other interested cattle business merchants nationwide on the need to utilize the facility at low cost.

He said, “the availability of ranches in every part of the country will put a stop to communal crisis, wanton killings and fight between the herdsmen and host communities. Though, the initiative has gone beyond 40 percent feasible, but we are still collaborating with NGOs, International Organizations, Corporate Bodies and relevant stakeholders for their input that would fast-rack the programme.”

The National President of I.P.A therefore hinted the efforts of the organization to liaise with the Federal Government and leaders in various political divides across the nation to provide lands and assistance geared towards realizing the project.
