*Insists PDP Will Win By election

Ahead of the March 27, 2021, by-election into the Aba North/Aba South federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has carpeted the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, for allegedly influencing the return of his younger brother, Mascot Uzor Kalu, as the APC candidate for the by-election.

Recall that Kalu’s immediate younger brother, Nnanna , also represented Aba North/Aba South federal constituency for two terms from 2003 to 2011.

The Governor, who spoke during the PDP mega rally in Aba, explained that it would be unjust to continue to deny the indigenous owners of Aba town the opportunity to represent themselves at the House of Representatives.

He said that the PDP led administration in the State has done much to deserve the vote of Aba people, stressing that equity demands that an Aba indigene is allowed to represent them at the National Assembly for the first time since 1999.

Ikpeazu urged residents of Aba to support the PDP candidate, Chief Chimaobi Ebisike, who is a son of the soil, and shun other parties whom he said do not mean well for the state.

He berated the elder Kalu who represents Abia North in the Senate over his alleged influence in the emergence of his younger brother as APC candidate.

Ikpeazu stated that as Governor, he has a qualified brother for the position, but would not impose him on the people in order to give opportunity to the ordinary people.

According to the Governor; “I have a biological brother who is a qualified lawyer and lives in Aba. As Governor, I can use my influence to make him the candidate of our party in this election. My question is; if every person who is in power decides to send his youngest brother to the Federal House, when will the sons and daughters of ordinary people ever get the chance into positions of power?

“By the way, these people who want to send their last brother to the Green chamber to represent Aba, while they stay in the Red Chamber, ask them to show you one road they did in Aba when they were in power that is still standing today.  They did Osusu road and a few years later, plantains were growing in the middle of the road.”

The Governor urged Aba people to vote based on what political parties have done in the city, stressing that his achievements in Aba will certainly ensure the success of the PDP candidate.
